Description

The TBAC 338 ULTRA Gen 1 is a purpose-built precision rifle suppressor designed around .338 Lapua Magnum for maximum flexibility and real-world durability. It’s part of Thunder Beast’s ULTRA series—a titanium line focused on one thing: maximum suppression and repeatability at minimum weight.

Compared to the prior 338BA, TBAC states the 338 ULTRA is 33% lighter, 2–4 dB quieter, and stronger, while maintaining the precision and consistency their long-range lineup is known for. The suppressor is built from 100% titanium with a 360° fully-welded baffle core, giving a strong strength-to-weight ratio and eliminating the weak points you get with modular stacks. The redesigned baffle stack incorporates Helical Baffle Technology, aimed at maintaining stability and consistent performance shot-to-shot.

On a typical .338 Lapua bolt gun, TBAC lists suppression down to roughly 135–138 dB (MIL-STD-1474D test method noted), with very little or no first round pop in most applications. In practical terms: less concussion, less blast, and a recoil impulse that’s reduced and stretched out—making it easier to stay in the glass and communicate with your spotter.

Mounting is via the 338BA brake (v1 or v2), and the ULTRA is backwards compatible with all 338BA brakes. The mount includes a conical shoulder surface for repeatable alignment. Brakes are heat-treated 17-4 stainless with an Ionbond DLC finish.

The 338 ULTRA is rated for .338 Lapua Magnum down to 16″ barrels, and it can also do multi-rifle duty on smaller cartridges (6mm/6.5/.308 and many .30 cal magnums) when mounted appropriately. TBAC also notes ULTRA series suppressors should be kept under 800°F to manage thermal stress, especially with shorter barrels.
